Game thought vs. Raiders

Thanks everyone for making it out to the game today.  I wanted to apologize for the chaotic start to the game.  You may not have seen this, but the refs refused to let Misael (our center) play because of his goggles and then we also had a couple of kids losing their breakfast due to nerves! In fact, I saw a lot of nerves today. I think we can put this behind us now and settle in to the rest of the season.

We saw a lot of good things happen today but we also had our share of mistakes.  I am very proud that we did not have a single penalty called on us.  The coaches learned some things as well and we will be making some adjustments.  You may see your child in a new position next week.  I will say this, other than Nogales, I doubt we will see a team as big, athletic or as mature as the Raiders were.  They are a good team.  Had we made a few less mistakes, I have no doubt the score would have been closer than 32-6.

I also want to give kudos to Eric for stepping in at quarterback (I think Brandon had a couple of snaps there too) after Gus went down early.  In fact, we had quite a few bumps and bruises.  Ice them down over the weekend if needed.

Looking forward, we have the Cardinals this week.  They are a small but fast team.  Please make every effort to be at practice this week so that we can continue to improve.  I am very proud of the hard work our kids have put put in so far.  I have no doubt we will improve.
